100 Days to Go

With the London Olympics and Paralympics on the horizon, Life Leisure are working with partners, community groups, schools and residents to make the most of this once in a life time opportunity.

Life Leisure are unveiling an exciting new initiative to celebrate the games coming to London, which we would very much like your school or club to get involved with. RUN, SWIM and PLAY to the games.      

We are aiming to support the people of Stockport to Run, Swim or Play their way to the games.

The Run element will involve Life Leisure gym’s encouraging users to record the distance they run on a treadmill during an exercise session. All sites will be involved in this attempt to collectively run the distance from Stockport to the Olympic park. (203 miles)

The Swim element will involve  Life Leisure swimming pools encouraging users to record the distance they swim during a session. All Life Leisure sites with swimming pools will be involved in this attempt to collectively swim the distance from Stockport to the Olympic park. (203 miles)

The important section for schools and clubs will be the PLAY to the games section. We are challenging schools and clubs to register as one of the 205 countries competing at the games at www.stockport.gov.uk/2012 and go to the 100 days to go link.   
And hold a sports day, fun day or competition at your school, community venue or park.
How you hold the competition is up to you; different year groups, tutors or classes could register as a country or the school or club as a whole could decide to register as a country. The challenge is to get all 205 countries allocated to a school, club, class or year group, and for the children to have fun competing or participating in sport.
